"Dogs have scent receptors that are enormously stronger than those of humans. Humans
have about 5 million scent receptors compared to the 220 million that dogs possess. It is true that a
dog can smell fear. Butyric acid, one of the ingredients in a person's perspiration, which is secreted when a
person is afraid or nervous, has an odor that is detectable by dogs. So, in most cases, when a person is afraid,
or anxious, or nervous, a dog can smell it. Dogs have also proven they can sniff out some diseases in
people. I think we humans have a lot to learn regarding the possibilities associated with our dog's special
gift of smell. I am convinced that dogs can also smell and sense other human emotions as well, such
as happiness and sorrow. Dogs see the world through their noses, just as we humans see the world through our eyes."
